Azelia Barolo San Rocco 2010 (750ml)

Tasting Notes
The 2010 San Rocco is powerful yet remarkably refined, opening with layered aromas of dark cherry, dried rose, tar, licorice, crushed herbs, and warm spice. With time in the glass, notes of truffle, tobacco, and forest floor emerge, reflecting both maturity and site expression. The palate is structured and deeply concentrated, with firm but polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and impressive length. Red and dark berry fruit intertwines with savory earth and mineral undertones, leading to a long, complex finish that continues to evolve. A classic, age-worthy Barolo from a benchmark vintage.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Azelia is a historic, family-owned estate in Barolo in the heart of Piedmont. Founded in the early 20th century and today led by Luigi Scavino, the winery is known for producing site-driven, traditionally styled Barolo with precision and aging potential. The San Rocco cru is located in the Serralunga d’Alba zone, famous for producing some of the most structured and long-lived expressions of Nebbiolo. The 2010 vintage is widely regarded as one of the greatest of the modern era in Barolo, combining ripeness, structure, and exceptional balance. Fermented traditionally with extended maceration and aged in large oak casks, this wine reflects both terroir authenticity and classical Barolo craftsmanship.
