Tasting Notes
The 2024 Les Arums de Lagrange is fresh, elegant, and beautifully aromatic, showing notes of lemon zest, grapefruit, white peach, pear, and delicate white flowers complemented by subtle herbal and mineral nuances. The palate is lively and precise, combining vibrant citrus-driven acidity with a rounded, silky texture. Notes of orchard fruit, fresh citrus, and restrained oak carry through to a long, clean, and refreshing finish.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Les Arums de Lagrange is the white wine produced by Chateau Lagrange, the historic Third Growth (Troisième Cru Classé) in the 1855 Classification located in Saint-Julien. The estate has a history stretching back several centuries and today is owned by Suntory, whose investment in the vineyards and winery helped restore Château Lagrange to its position among the leading properties of Saint-Julien. Although best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant reds, the château maintains a small portion of its vineyards for white Bordeaux varieties.
Les Arums de Lagrange is produced from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, combining Sauvignon Blanc's citrus, aromatic intensity, and freshness with the texture and complexity contributed by Sémillon. Barrel fermentation and maturation provide additional depth and structure while maintaining the freshness that defines the wine. Produced in relatively small quantities compared with the estate's red wines, Les Arums offers an interesting opportunity to experience a white Bordeaux from one of the Médoc's historic classified-growth estates.
