Tasting Notes
The 2024 Lousas Rosende Tinto is fragrant, energetic, and beautifully detailed, offering aromas of wild raspberry, red cherry, blackberry, and violet alongside notes of crushed granite, dried herbs, and subtle pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with vibrant acidity, delicate tannins, and a distinctive mineral character. Bright berry fruit combines with floral and savoury complexity, leading to a long, fresh, and precise finish.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Envínate was founded by four friends who met while studying enology in Alicante and has become one of Spain's most respected producers of terroir-driven wines. Their philosophy focuses on preserving historic vineyards, indigenous grape varieties, and traditional winemaking practices while allowing individual sites to express their distinctive character.
Lousas Rosende comes from Ribeira Sacra in Galicia, northwestern Spain, a region celebrated for its dramatic landscapes and distinctive Atlantic-influenced wines. The vineyard features mature vines rooted in sandy, granite-rich soils, with Mencía forming the foundation of the blend alongside small quantities of other indigenous red and white grape varieties.
The wine is produced using whole-bunch fermentation, followed by approximately one year of maturation in neutral oak. This restrained approach preserves the aromatic purity of Mencía while allowing the vineyard's mineral character and savoury complexity to emerge.
Production of the 2024 vintage was limited to just 4,960 bottles and 45 magnums, making Lousas Rosende a highly limited expression of one of Galicia's most distinctive vineyard landscapes.
