Tasting Note
Giodo Brunello di Montalcino 2016 is pure, refined, and breathtakingly elegant. Aromas of red cherry, blood orange, pomegranate, and dried rose unfold with notes of sweet tobacco, spices, and fine herbs. The palate is beautifully balanced—silky yet structured—showing vibrant acidity, polished tannins, and precise red-fruit intensity. A mineral backbone and savoury depth carry through a long, graceful finish. This is a radiant, poised Brunello from an exceptional vintage.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Giodo is the personal estate of legendary winemaker Carlo Ferrini, whose craftsmanship has shaped some of Tuscany’s greatest wines. His Brunello is produced from impeccably farmed vineyards on the southeastern side of Montalcino, vinified with gentle extraction and aged in large neutral oak to preserve purity and finesse. The 2016 vintage—considered one of the finest in modern Montalcino—elevated Giodo to new heights. Critics were unanimous: James Suckling (100), Wine Advocate (97), and Vinous (97) praised its precision, harmony, and extraordinary aging potential. Widely viewed as one of the top Brunello releases of the vintage, the 2016 Giodo is a benchmark expression of Ferrini’s vision and a world-class collectible.
