Tasting Notes
The 2015 Cristal is rich, expressive, and beautifully structured, offering aromas of ripe peach, apricot, candied citrus, and golden apple alongside delicate notes of toasted almond, hazelnut, white flowers, and brioche. The palate is concentrated and luxurious, combining generous orchard fruit with vibrant citrus acidity, fine bubbles, and distinctive chalky minerality. Subtle notes of honey, spice, and toasted pastry add complexity, while the finish is exceptionally long, precise, and refreshing. The warmth of the vintage provides richness and generosity, balanced by the remarkable freshness and elegance that define Cristal.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer is one of Champagne's most prestigious houses, internationally celebrated for its exceptional vineyard holdings, meticulous viticulture, and commitment to producing some of the world's finest vintage Champagnes. Cristal was originally created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia and has since become one of the most recognizable and collectible prestige cuvées in the world.
The 2015 vintage was characterized by an exceptionally warm, dry growing season, producing concentrated fruit with impressive ripeness, depth, and structure. Cristal 2015 is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, Marne Valley, and Côte des Blancs. A portion of the wine is vinified in oak, contributing additional complexity and texture, while extended aging on the lees develops its signature fine mousse, richness, and refined character.
The 2015 Cristal is particularly notable for its combination of generous fruit, powerful structure, and mineral precision. Louis Roederer's commitment to organic and biodynamic vineyard practices has helped further define the purity and expression of its prestige cuvée. Produced only in exceptional vintages, Cristal remains one of Champagne's most critically acclaimed wines, prized for its ability to combine immediate complexity with extraordinary long-term aging potential.
