About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Rioja Bordón is produced by Bodegas Franco-Españolas, a historic Rioja estate founded in 1890 in Logroño. The winery has a long history of producing traditional Rioja, with Tempranillo forming the foundation of its red wines alongside other permitted regional varieties.
The Crianza style combines ripe fruit with the savoury, spicy character developed through oak maturation and subsequent bottle aging. The 2019 offers a classic expression of Rioja, balancing freshness and fruit with notes of spice, cedar, and tobacco. Its medium body, supple tannins, and developed character make it approachable now while retaining the structure expected from traditionally styled Rioja Crianza.
