About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Tenuta San Guido is one of the most important estates in Italian wine history and the birthplace of the Super Tuscan movement. Sassicaia is produced from vineyards in Bolgheri planted on gravelly, limestone-rich soils ideally suited to Bordeaux varieties. The wine is traditionally a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with a portion of Cabernet Franc, fermented and aged in French oak to emphasize elegance over power.
The 2022 vintage in Bolgheri was warm, but careful vineyard management preserved freshness and balance.
