Tasting Notes
Fresh, bright, and mineral-driven, William Fèvre Petit Chablis offers aromas of lemon, green apple, white peach, and delicate white flowers with subtle notes of wet stone and fresh herbs. The palate is crisp and energetic, showing citrus and orchard fruit supported by lively acidity and a clean mineral character. Light and precise, the finish is refreshing with lingering citrus and saline notes.
About the Winery, Production & Critical Reputation
Domaine William Fevre is one of the benchmark estates of Chablis. Founded in 1959, the domaine has developed an exceptional collection of vineyards, including significant Premier Cru and Grand Cru holdings, and is particularly respected for producing precise, mineral-driven Chardonnay that emphasizes vineyard character.
Petit Chablis is produced entirely from Chardonnay grown primarily on the higher slopes and plateaus surrounding Chablis. These sites generally feature younger Portlandian limestone soils rather than the Kimmeridgian limestone associated with many of the appellation's most prestigious vineyards. The wine is vinified to preserve freshness, purity, and fruit expression, with little emphasis on oak. The result is an approachable introduction to the William Fèvre style, combining bright Chardonnay fruit with the freshness and mineral character associated with northern Burgundy.
